  • All registered participants to IAH 2018 are eligible to submit their manuscript(s) to relevant special issue(s).
  • The submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed handled by Guest Editor(s).
  • Then elected papers will be published in the special issue of journal(s) below.
  • For more information about the journals, please find given below the details.

Environmental Earth Sciences

Environmental Earth Sciences is an international multidisciplinary journal concerned with all aspects of interaction between humans, natural resources, ecosystems, special climates or unique geographic zones, and the earth:

  • Water and soil contamination caused by waste management and disposal practices
  • Environmental problems associated with transportation by land, air, or water
  • Geological processes that may impact biosystems or humans
  • Man-made or naturally occurring geological or hydrological hazards
  • Environmental problems associated with the recovery of materials from the earth/li>
  • Environmental problems caused by extraction of minerals, coal, and ores, as well as oil and gas, water and alternative energy sources
  • Environmental impacts of exploration and recultivation – Environmental impacts of hazardous materials
  • Management of environmental data and information in data banks and information systems
  • Dissemination of knowledge on techniques, methods, approaches and experiences to improve and remediate the environment

In pursuit of these topics, the geoscientific disciplines are invited to contribute their knowledge and experience. Major disciplines include: hydrogeology, hydrochemistry, geochemistry, geophysics, engineering geology, remediation science, natural resources management, environmental climatology and biota, environmental geography, soil science and geomicrobiology.

Journal of Groundwater Science and Engineering

Special Edition: Focus on Asian Groundwater Issues

Growing populations in the face of increasingly scarce supplies of surface water are forcing countries to rely more and more ongroundwaters for drinking water, food production, and industry. This is especially true for the countries of south-east Asia. Yet, for groundwater, serious shortages are already indicated in India, China and other countries, along with water quality problems associated with agrochemicals, mining, seawater intrusion, and the improper disposal of urban and industrial wastes. This Special Issue will provide forum for topics with special relevance to Asia concerned with problems of groundwater quality and quantity. Researchers are encouraged to submit papers across the spectrum from basic research to case studies highlighting problems of practical concern. To the extent possible, we are encouraging papers that describe novel approaches and technologies, and water quality concerns related, for example, to agriculture, waste disposal, large cities, oil and gas, mining, and more. Other areas of focus are concerned with the myriad of problems coming from global climate change, and emerging diseases and health.

Following are some examples of topics that might be of interest:

  • Groundwater/surface water interactions
  • Reducing the impacts of desertification
  • Degradation of permafrost terranes
  • Arsenic Contamination
  • Groundwater and Health
  • Environmental impacts associate with fracking
  • Managing saltwater intrusion in Coastal Cities
  • New developments in large-scale modeling
  • Groundwater contamination in Asian settings
  • Groundwater flow in large basins
  • Karst and other unique hydrogeologic settings
  • Land subsidence

Geosciences

Groundwater is a critical resource for human life as well as for the maintenance of ecosystems. Understanding contaminated groundwater with human health is an emerging area of interest and study. Groundwater contributes to the sustainability of ecosystems for harmonizing human beings with nature. On the other side, environmental changes more and more affect surface and ground water resources. This Special Issue will be published on Geosciences and provide topics with groundwater and human health, geohydrology in connection with water and life, geomicrobial characterization of subsurface environment, groundwater resources management, environmental drivers changing hydrologic system and consequences, groundwater quantity and quality issues related to environmental changes, groundwater-surface water interaction, biogeochemistry and ecohydraulics of the riparian and hyporheic zone, groundwater-dependent ecosystems and so on. Guest Editors are encouraging papers that contains novel approaches and technologies on the above topics.

Keywords:

  • Groundwater modelling
  • Stream-aquifer interaction
  • Groundwater recharge
  • Geochemical and isotopic tracers
  • Environmental impacts assessment
  • Groundwater quantity and quality
  • Ecohydraulics of riparian zones
  • Groundwater and human health
  • Geomicrobial characterization of subsurface environment
